Faith-Based Comfort, Hope, and Healing Through Grief, Story, and Scripture
Welcome to a sacred place of restoration.
I’m Kathy Marie Swingle a mother, social worker, and believer who walked through the unimaginable loss of my only son, Rodger. Through prayer, scripture, and the mercy of God, grief slowly became something more than sorrow. It became story.
And story became strength.
About Kathy
A Journey Through Grief, Grace, and God’s Unshakeable Love
I’m Kathy Marie Swingle, a retired social worker, author, and mother whose life was forever changed by sudden loss. When my son Rodger passed away at 31, I found myself navigating trauma, spiritual questions, and a depth of grief I never imagined possible.
Yet in those moments of darkness, God met me with revelation, healing, and a story I never planned to write.
My background spans decades of service in healthcare, hospice, mental health, and family care—places where life and loss often meet. But nothing prepared me for the day God asked me to walk through my own valley of shadows.
For fourteen years, I prayed, wrote, wept, and listened. What emerged was more than a book it was a ministry of hope for anyone carrying the weight of sorrow.
Today, I write for YOU:
- the grieving parent
- the hurting soul
- the one searching for meaning after tragedy
- the believer seeking reassurance that God is still here
My heart is to remind you that love does not end at death and that Heaven’s comfort is real, present, and reaching for us.

about the book
A Mother’s Grief, A Son’s Journey, A Story That Heals
Sudden Death, Eternal Joy: Five Days to Heaven is a faith filled, deeply moving true story born from the sudden loss of Kathy Marie Swingle’s only son, Rodger. What begins as unimaginable tragedy unfolds into an extraordinary spiritual journey one that bridges earth and Heaven, grief and grace, sorrow and eternal hope.
On the day Rodger passes away, life shatters instantly. He leaves behind three young children, a heartbroken family, and a mother whose world stops in its tracks. Yet in the quiet of prayer, scripture, and unexplainable moments of divine comfort, Kathy begins receiving a story that refuses to be silenced.
Over fourteen years, she documents what she believes were the five days her son spent transitioning into eternity, guided by angels, held by God’s mercy, and shown the truth of redemption beyond earthly life.
What emerges is a book unlike any other, told partly through Rodger’s imagined heavenly perspective and partly through Kathy’s raw earthly grief. The result is a breathtaking tapestry of supernatural encounters, spiritual revelation, and the fierce love between a mother and her child.
